Fraud, Waste and Abuse Prevention

The Fraud, Waste and Abuse Prevention Unit (Fraud Prevention Unit) specializes in investigating cases where state funds are being misused or where false information is being provided for monetary gain.

The State Water Board has administrative authority to disqualify funding recipients and their consultants from participating in the UST Cleanup Fund and other State Water Board financial assistance programs. The Fraud Prevention Unit also works with other agencies in pursuit of criminal and/or civil prosecution.
