DISCUSSION: The State Water Resources Control Board (State Water Board) has contracted with the Trustees of the California State University (Trustees) for the past sixteen years to provide all labor, materials, and equipment necessary to provide student assistant services for the Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board (CVRWQCB). In June of 1997, the State Water Board executed a contract with the Trustees to continue this service. This resolution is to authorize a renewal to this contract to continue student services through June 30, 2004. The total contract funding would not exceed $319,000 for each of the Fiscal Years 1999-00, 2000-01, 2001-02, 2002-03 and 2003-04.
POLICY ISSUE: Should the State Water Board adopt a proposed resolution
authorizing the
Executive Director or his designee to negotiate and amend, as necessary,
the student assistant contract with the Trustees of the California State
University?
FISCAL IMPACT: The resolution will authorize up to $1,595,000
to the contract for the
Fiscal Years 1999-00, 2000-01, 2001-02, 2002-03 and 2003-04. The total
authorized for the Fiscal Year 1999-00 would not exceed $319,000.
REGIONAL BOARD IMPACT: Yes, the CVRWQCB is the participant in the student assistant contract. Funding is available in the CVRWQCB budget to cover this contract renewal. The CVRWQCB and Budget Office will work together to ensure that the necessary annual allotments are reflected in the contract line item.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION: That the State Water Board adopt a resolution
authorizing the Executive Director or his designee to negotiate and amend,
as necessary, the student assistant contract with the Trustees of the California
State University.
