The drainage was historically logged for use in the silver mines during the Comstock Lode in Nevada, has been grazed in the past, and the lower portions of the watershed were used for a now defunct landfill. Today the drainage is heavily forested with even-aged stands which the USFS is working to thin. During the warmer months (i.e. when snow is not on the ground) the drainage sees high recreational use from motorized and non-motorized vehicle traffic, hikers and horseback riders. | ||||
