Lake Almanor rests in the beautiful Lassen National Forest at an elevation of 4,550 feet. This huge man made lake is 13 miles long and 6 miles wide with a surface area of 28,000 acres. There is ample improved camping facilities located around the lake. For those who like the comfort of home there are several private resorts located near the lake. Almanor is a popular Northern California summer get-away offering clear blue water, excellent water-skiing, full service marinas and boat rentals. Antelope Lake rests at an elevation of 5,000 feet in the Plumas National Forest. Antelope has 16 miles of pine timbered shoreline and a surface area of 950 acres. There are several improved campgrounds situated around the lake that provide group, tent, and RV camping with disposal facilities. Antelope Lake, as well as the surrounding streams are a trout fisherman's paradise. The lake is home to a good population of large rainbow and brown trout, catfish, and the famous Eagle Lake Trout. Water-skiing and swimming are allowed. There is a store located at the lake with adequate last minute supplies, bait and tackle, and food. For more information contact the Mt. Benbow is an excellent choice for a weekend getaway. At an elevation of 365 feet this 230 acre lake is created by the damming of the Eel River. Only non powered boats are allowed, but Benbow is excellent for sailing or rowing. Paddle boats and canoes are available for rent at the marina. Swimming is allowed and there is a well maintained beach area. The State of California operates a park and campground located at the lake and for those who require comfort Benbow Inn would be an excellent choice. Black Butte Lake rests in the rolling hills 8 miles west of Orland, California at an elevation of 470 feet. Black Butte has 40 miles of shoreline and contains 4,460 acre feet of water. There are several well maintained camping facilities situated around the lake operated by the US Army Corps. There is a full service marina with boat rentals available. Water-skiing, jet-skiing, and swimming is allowed. Black Butte is famous for the excellent spring crappie fishing and abundance of bass, catfish, and bluegill. Blue Lakes are located approximately 78 miles north of Santa Rosa at an elevation of 1,400 feet. There are several campgrounds located near the lakes suitable for tents, trailers, or RV's, as well as full service hook-ups. All boating is permitted although limited to a 5 mph speed restriction. There are boat rentals available as well as concessions, full service stores, motels, cabins, resorts, restaurants, picnic areas, and swimming beaches. Bocca Reservoir rests at an elevation of 5,700 feet in the beautiful Tahoe National Forest just 28 miles west of Reno . Bocca has 15 miles of pine covered shoreline with a surface area of 980 acres. There are 2 campgrounds located at the lake with a total of 100 campsites suitable for tents or RV's without full hookups. Water-skiing, jet-skis, and swimming are allowed with improved launch facilities available. For the fisherman Bocca offers excellent rainbow trout action with good numbers of large fish available. Lake Britton is located approximately 65 miles northeast of Redding at an elevation of 2,760 feet in the beautiful Trinity National Forest. Britton contains 1,600 surface acres of water and 18 miles of pine covered shoreline. There are several camping facilities located at the lake suitable for tents or RV's (35 foot limitation). All boating is permitted as well as water-skiing, swimming, and jet-skis. Boat rentals are available at the lake as well as bait, tackle, gas, and food. Bullards Bar Reservoir is located 35 miles east of Marysville in the beautiful Tahoe National Forest at an elevation of 2,005 feet. Bullards has 55 miles of rugged shoreline with 4,700 surface acres of water. There are several campgrounds located at the lake suitable for tents, trailers, group camping, or RV's. All boating and water-skiing is allowed. The lake holds a wide variety of fish, including, rainbow and brown trout, catfish, smallmouth and largemouth bass, crappie, bluegill, and kokanee salmon. Collins Lake is located approximately 25 miles north east of Marysville in the pristine Mother Lode Country. Collins rests at an elevation of 1,200 feet and has 13 miles oak and pine covered shoreline. There are two campground located at the lake suitable for tent, trailer, or RV's; full service hook-ups are available. All boating is permitted year-round; water-skiing is only allowed May 15th through September 15th. Boat rentals are available at the marina. Excellent day use facilities including a swimming beach are located on the west side of the lake. Lake Davis is located approximately 80 miles south of Susanville at an elevation of 5,775 feet with a surface area of 4,025 acres. Take Interstate 395 south to Hallelujah Junction, west on highway 70, then follow the signs. Lake Davis is a very popular destination for fly fishermen. The western and northern shorelines offer the best access for float tubes. There are several campgrounds in the area, the largest being Grizzly and Grasshopper hosting 125 single-family sites with flush toilets, piped water, fire rings, and garbage service. The maximum stay is 14 days. Swimming and water-skiing are not permitted in the lake. There are several boat launch facilities around the lake with Honker Bay and Lightning Tree being the most popular. Donner Lake rests at an elevation of 5,969 feet in the beautiful Tahoe National Forest 2 miles west of Truckee. Donner has 7.5 miles of alpine covered shoreline and crystal clear blue water. There are three campgrounds offering tent, trailer, or RV camping as well as two resorts located at the lake. All boating is permitted as well as water-skiing and jet-skis. Swimming is permitted and there is a nice swim beach located on the south shore. Donner offers improved launching facilities as well as a full service marina with boat rentals located on the north side of the lake. Eagle Lake is located about 17 miles northwest of Susanville at an elevation of 5,100 feet. Eagle Lake contains 27,000 surface acres of water 100 miles of timbered shoreline. The northern end of the lake is mostly characteristic of high desert country. Brush and junipers cover the surrounding area. Rocks and patches of reeds makeup the shoreline. The south end of the lake is forested with pines, cedars, and firs. The Eagle Lake marina and boat launch are located at the south end of the lake. Fishing at Eagle Lake opens each year on the Memorial Day weekend and closes on Dec. 31. Eagle Lake is nationally known for its trophy Eagle Lake Trout. The average size fish caught at Eagle is 3 - 5 pounds with the record fish caught being around 15 pounds. Frenchman Reservoir is situated about 80 miles west of Highway 395, and 25 miles south of Susanville. Frenchman rests at an elevation of 5,558 feet in the Plumas National Forest and has 21 miles of sage and pine covered shoreline. All boating is permitted as well as water-skiing, jet-skis, and overnight boating. Frenchman has two boat ramps that are easily accessible except during severe winter weather. There is one improved and three unimproved campgrounds situated around the lake suitable for tent, RV's and trailers. Indian Valley Reservoir is located about 80 miles north of Sacramento at an elevation of 1,480 feet . The lake has a surface area of 3,800 acres and 41 miles of shoreline. Boating is limited to 10 mph and water-skiing and jet-skis are not permitted although swimming is allowed. There is one improved campground and several unimproved campgrounds located at the lake with RV camping available on the south end. Indian Valley holds a wide variety of fish including Trout, catfish, steelhead, bluegill, crappie, largemouth bass, and smallmouth. Iron Canyon Reservoir is located approximately 60 miles northeast of Redding at an elevation of 2,700 feet in the beautiful Trinity National Forest. The lake has 15 miles of forested shoreline and 500 surface acres of water. There are two campgrounds located at the lake suitable for tents or RV's (24 foot limit.) Private boats are allowed, however, water-skiing is not permitted. Fishing at Iron Canyon consists of brown and rainbow trout and the angler is often rewarded with quality and quantity fish. Iron Gate Reservoir is located approximately 15 miles northeast of Yreka at an elevation of 2,343 feet on the famous Klamath River. Iron Gate is 7 miles long and contains 825 surface acres of water. There are several small campgrounds located at the lake suitable for tents, RV's, or trailers. Improved launching facilities are available and all boating is permitted but limited to a 10 mph speed restriction in most areas. Boat rentals are available at nearby Copoco Lake store. For the fisherman Iron gate offers an abundance of yellow perch, trout, bass and catfish as well as seasonal runs of salmon and steelhead in the Klamath River. Juanita lake is located approximately 40 miles southwest of Klamath Fall along Highway 97 in the beautiful Klamath National Forest at an elevation of 5,150 feet. Juanita has a surface area of 55 acres and two miles of conifer wooded shoreline. The lake has one well maintained campground suitable for tents, trailers, or RV's. Boating is limited to non-powered craft and launching facilities are available. Juanita is well stocked with rainbow and brown trout and also holds a fair population of bass and catfish. Lewiston Lake is located approximately 35 miles west of Redding at an elevation of 1,915 feet with a surface area of 615 acres and 15 miles of shoreline. There are several camping facilities located around the lake accommodating tents of RV's. All boating is permitted with a speed restriction of 10 mph with one improved launch facility. Boat rentals are available at the marina as well as fuel, bait, tackle, and snacks. Lewiston Lake is noted as a big trout lake and also holds a good population of bass, catfish, and bluegill. Manzanita Lake is situated just south of Highway 89, about 50 miles east of Redding in the beautiful Lassen National Park. This lake is not stocked but holds some fine trophy rainbows. When the ice thaws in the spring feeding becomes quite heavy. No motorized boats are allowed. This is an excellent float tube lake with plenty of open water and fairly easy lake access. Lake McCloud is located approximately 80 miles southeast of Redding at an elevation of 3,000 feet. McCloud has a surface area of 520 acres and a spectacular rocky pine covered shoreline. All boating is permitted and the lake has one improved launch facility. There is one small unimproved campground located at Star City Creek. Medicine Lake is located approximately 50 miles northeast of McCloud off of Highway 89 in the beautiful Modoc National Forest at an elevation of 6,700 feet. Once the center of a volcano, this 640 acre lake is said to be at least 150 feet deep in places. There are four well maintained campgrounds located at the lake suitable for tent, RV, or group camping. All boating is allowed as well as water-skiing, jet-skis, and swimming, There is one improved and two unimproved launch ramps located around the lake. Lake Mendocino is located approximately 65 miles northeast of Santa Rosa on the east fork of the Russian River above Coyote Dam at an elevation of 750 feet. Mendocino has 15 miles of oak covered shoreline and a surface area of 1,740 acres. There are several campgrounds located around the lake well suited for tents, trailers, RV's, or group camping. All boating is permitted as well as water-skiing, jet-skis, and swimming. There are two improved launch ramps and a full service marina with boat rentals and concessions available. As for the fisherman Lake Mendocino is very well know for the excellent striped bass and huge channel catfish action. Mendocino also holds a good population of bluegill, crappie, and smallmouth bass. Lake Oroville is located approximately 75 miles northeast of Sacramento on the famous Feather River at an elevation of 950 feet. Lake Oroville has 15,500 surface acres and 169 miles of oak and chaparral covered shoreline. There are many camping facilities from improved with full hookups to boat-in located at the lake accommodating tents, RV's, or groups camping. All boating is permitted as well as overnight boating, water-skiing, jet-skis, and swimming. For the angler Oroville offers a wide variety of fishing including Coho and king salmon, trout, bass, bluegill, crappie, and catfish. Lake Pillsbury is at an elevation of 1,818 feet in the pristine Mendocino National Forest approximately 100 miles from Santa Rosa situated on the famous Eel River. Pillsbury has several campgrounds located at the lake accommodating tents, RV's, and trailers. All boating is allowed including water-skiing and jet-skis as well as overnight boating. There is a full service marina, snack bar, grocery store, and restaurant located near the lake. Rental boats, bait, and tackle are located at the marina along with an improved launch ramp. Prosser creek Reservoir is located approximately 40 miles west of Reno, Nevada In the beautiful Tahoe National Forest at an elevation of 5,715 feet. Prosser is a 740 surface acre lake with 11 miles of sage covered shoreline. All boating is allowed under 10 MPH, no water-skiing or jet-skis allowed although swimming is permitted. There are several camping facilities located around the lake accommodating both tents and RV's with group camping available. Rollins Lake is located approximately 50 miles east of Sacramento in the majestic Western Sierra's. Rollins has a surface area of 825 acres with 26 miles of oak and pine covered shoreline. There are several camping facilities located near the lake suitable for tents, RV's, or group camping as well as boat-in camp sites only accessible by boat, here is a map of the Peninsula Campground. Round Valley Reservoir is located approximately 3 miles west of Greenville in the beautiful Plumas National Forest at an elevation of 4,600 feet. There is one campground located at the lake with 50 sites suitable for tents, RV's, or trailers with hot showers available. Boating is allowed but limited to fishing only with a 7.5 HP limit. No swimming or body contact with the water is permitted. There is one launch ramp and boat rentals are available. Ruth lake is located between Red Bluff and Eureka on highway 36 at an elevation of 2,650 feet. Ruth lake was formed in 1962 by the damming of the Mad River and has a surface area of 1,200 acres. All boating is permitted as well as jet-skis, water-skiing, and swimming. There are several campgrounds located on the east side of the lake accommodating tents, RV's and trailers as well as a group camping area. The lake has a full service marina with boat rentals available and improved launching facilities. for the fisherman Ruth Lake offers a good population of rainbow trout, bass, and catfish and an occasional kokanee salmon. Lake Shastina is located approximately 30 miles south of Yreka in the shadows of Mt. Shasta on the Shasta River. Shastina does not have camping facilities but nearby Juanita lake does. All boating is permitted as well as water-skiing and swimming. Boat rentals are available at the marina. Tennis, golf, and a water slide offer added attractions for the outdoor enthusiast. Lake Shastina is well noted by local fishermen as an excellent trout fishery and the lake also holds a decent population of bass, bluegill, crappie, and silver salmon. Lake Siskiyou is located approximately 65 miles northwest of Redding at an elevation of 3,181 feet, resting in the shadows of Mount Shasta. The lake has 5.5 miles of shoreline and with a surface area of 435 acres surrounded by majestic pine trees. Excellent camping facilities are located at the lake suitable for tent, group, or RV's; full hook-ups available. All boating is permitted although limited to a 10 mph speed restriction. The lake has a full service marina with rental boats and improved launch facilities. Siskiyou is well noted by fisherman for the excellent trout fishing and wide variety, including, rainbow, brown, Kamloop, and brook trout. Lake Spaulding is located approximately 30 miles west of Truckee at an elevation of 5,015 feet in the Sierra Nevada mountains. Spaulding has a surface area of 698 acres and is surrounded by granite rocks and conifer forested hillside. The lake has one campground that is suitable for tents of RV's and one undeveloped boat-in camping area. All boating is allowed including water-skiing and jet-skis, however, lake levels drop dramatically in the summer months making it difficult for launching. Stampede Reservoir is located approximately 15 miles north of Truckee at an elevation of 5,949 feet in the Tahoe National Forest. The lake has a surface area of 3,450 acres and 25 miles of sage and coniferous shoreline. There are several campgrounds at the lake operated by the USFS that are suitable for tent, RV's or group camping. All boating is permitted as well as water-skiing, jet-skis, and swimming. Water levels drop dramatically toward the end of summer, however, extended low water launch ramps are available. Trinity Lake is located just north of Redding along Interstate 5 at an elevation of 2,370 feet in the beautiful Trinity Alps. Trinity has 147 miles of pine, cedar, and oak covered shoreline with 16,400 surface acres of water. Many campgrounds are located around the lake offering group, RV, or tent camping. All boating is permitted as well as water-skiing, jet-skis, and swimming. There are full service marinas with fishing, skiing, and houseboat rentals and improved launching facilities. West Valley Reservoir is located approximately 20 miles south of Alturas at an elevation of 4,780 feet. West Valley contains 970 surface acres of water with 7 miles of sparse shoreline. Only primitive camping facilities are available, however, overnight camping in you watercraft is allowed. The lake has one launch ramp and all boating is permitted as well as water-skiing and jet-skis. The lake holds a good population of Eagle Lake trout, catfish, and Sacramento perch. Whiskeytown Lake is located approximately 10 miles north of Redding at an elevation of 1,210 feet. The lake has 36 miles of coniferous shoreline and 3,250 surface acres of water. There are three campgrounds located around the lake accommodating tent, RV, (to 36 feet) and group camping. All boating is allowed as well as skiing and jet-skis with improved launch facilities and boat rentals available. Eastern Sierra’s
Bridgeport Reservoir rests at an elevation of 6,500 feet near the quaint mountain community of Bridgeport. This 4,400 surface acre lake holds a large number of huge brown trout. All boating is permitted as well as overnight boating. There are two campgrounds located on the east shore along with a full service marina and improved launch facilities. Convict Lake is one of the most beautiful places in the Eastern Sierra with crystal clear water surrounded by steep rugged mountain peaks. Convict has three miles of pine-covered shoreline resting at an elevation of 7,583 feet. There are two campgrounds located at the lake suitable for tents or RV's (no hookups, open April through October). Power boats are permitted with launch facilities and rentals available. Situated in the Eastern High Sierras at an elevation of 6,500 feet Crowley offers some of the best trout fishing in the state. This 650-acre lake is home to many ten pound plus brown trout. In addition to trout, Crowley also is famous for excellent Sacramento perch fishing. Trout season starts last Saturday April through July 31. All boating is permitted with improved launch facilities and rentals available. Huntington Lakes rests at an elevation of 7,000 feet in the majestic Sierra National Forest. This man-made lake is 6 miles long and 1/2 mile wide with 14 miles of forested shoreline. There are several campgrounds situated around the lake that are operated by USFS, suitable for tent, RV's and group camping. All boating is permitted as well as water-skiing and jet-skis with full service marinas and improved launch facilities available. Indian Creek Reservoir is located approximately 40 miles southwest of Carson City, resting on the eastern slope of the Sierra's at an elevation of 5,650 feet. The lake has 160 surface acres of water and is surrounded by heavily pine forested shoreline. There are several campgrounds located at the lake accommodating tent. RV, and group camping (no hookups & no reservations excepted). Only small boats are permitted with a speed limitation of 5 mph, however, paved launching facilities are available. June Lake Loop consists of four lakes just off of highway 395. Grant Lake is the largest with 1,100 surface acres. Gull Lake is the smallest with 64 acres situated on the eastern slope of the High Sierras at an elevation of 7,600 feet in the beautiful Alpine forest. Swimming, backpacking, horseback riding, hiking, fishing, and hunting are some leisure activities offered. Lundy Lake is located approximately 15 miles northeast of Lee Vining at an elevation of 7,800 feet. Lundy Lake is 1 mile long and 1/2 mile wide with a rocky aspen and pine covered shoreline. There are many hike-in lakes located near the lake and Lundy is the trailhead to the 20 lakes basin. Camping facilities are available at the lake suitable for tents, trailers, and RV's; full hook-ups available. The Mammoth Lakes basin rests at the doorway to the beautiful High Sierras. These lakes range from an elevation of 8,540 feet to 9,250 feet. Rock Creek Lake is located approximately 25 miles east of Bishop at an elevation of 9,682 feet in the beautiful Rock Creek Canyon of the Inyo National Forest. Saddlebag Lake is located approximately 13 miles northeast of Lee Vining at an elevation of 10,090 feet and is the highest lake in California that is reachable by road. Saddlebag is situated near the entrance of Yosemite and offers a beautiful, rugged, glacial environment. Topaz rests on the California - Nevada state line at an elevation of 5,012 feet. Topaz Lake has approximately 25 miles of shoreline surrounded by sage covered mountains. Topaz is closed for fishing from October 1st through the end of December. The lake permits all boating as well as overnight boating and jet-skis. Alpine Lake is located Approximately 55 miles southeast of Angels Camp at an elevation of 7,230 feet in the pristine Stanislaus National Forest. The lake has a surface area of 179 acres. The California Aqueduct is the principal water conveyance structure for the California State Water Project and is the first statewide water resources development in the United States. The Aqueduct runs from the Delta east of San Francisco, south 293 miles to the Tehachapi Mountains where it is pumped over the mountains to Los Angeles. The Aqueduct consists of a concrete canal, 40 ft. wide at the base, and has an average depth flow of 30 feet. Many areas along the Aqueduct are accessible for fishing, which can be enjoyed day or night. The California Aqueduct holds a wide variety of fish species, including striped and largemouth bass, catfish, carp, bluegill, and crappie. Berryessa is located in the beautiful wine country of the Napa Valley at an elevation of 440 feet. Lake Berryessa is one of the largest manmade lakes in California with a surface area of 13,000 acres and 175 miles of shoreline. The surrounding shoreline is covered with majestic oak and Manzanita. Water temperature in the summer can reach a comfortable 75 degrees that is excellent for swimming and water skiing. Blue Lakes is located approximately 40 miles west of South Lake Tahoe at an elevation of 8,000 feet in the El Dorado National Forest. Buena Vista Aquatic Recreation Area is located off of Taft Highway, 23 miles southwest of Bakersfield and 12 miles east of Taft. Lake Evans and the larger Lake Webb make up the popular 1,586 acre lake operated by the Kern County Parks and Recreation Department. Complete modern facilities for camping (view campground map), picnicking, swimming, and boating are available here as well as food and fuel. Lake Evans has a surface area of 86 acres and Lake Webb has 873 acres. All boating is allowed in both lakes, however Lake Evans is restricted to a 5 MPH speed limit and Lake Webb at 45 MPH. Lake Chabot is located just a short hop outside Oakland. Services include rental of canoes and boats (electric, paddle boats, or oars), a coffee shop, picnicking, grassy play area, horseshoe pits, hiking, bicycling, jogging, and running trails, and seasonal lake tours aboard the Chabot Queen. Lake Chabot is stocked with trout and catfish. A popular event is the annual spring fishing derby. The several fishing piers include one with access for the disabled, and there is a wheelchair ramp from the parking lot to the marina. Cherry Lake is located approximately 40 miles east of Sanora at elevation of 4,750 feet in the rugged back country of the Stanislaus National Forest. The lake contains 4 square surface miles of water surrounded by heavily timbered pine and cedar shoreline. Coyote Reservoir is located approximately 40 miles northwest of San Jose at an elevation of 777 feet in the oak covered hillsides near Gilroy. Del Valle Reservoir is located approximately 15 miles east of Livermore at an elevation of 700 feet in the oak covered hills of the Sierra Nevada's. The lake has a surface area of 750 acres with 16 miles of shoreline. Don Pedro is situated in the Sierra Nevada foothills due east of Modesto and 39 miles from Stockton at an elevation of 800 feet. Don Pedro offers 160 miles of shoreline with nearly 13,000 surface acres of water. Boating, swimming, water-skiing, jet skiing, sailing and house boating are some activities enjoyed at the lake. There are three recreation areas situated around the lake with a total of 550 campsites, some with full utility hook-ups for RV.'s, the rest with access for water and hot showers. There are two full service marinas on the water, one at Fleming Meadows on the West Shore, and one at Moccasin Point on the East Shore. Don Pedro is one of California's premier warm water fisheries most noted for excellent largemouth bass fishing. Eastman Lake is located approximately 28 miles northeast of Chowchilla. The lake contains 1,780 surface acres of water in the oak covered rolling foothills. Echo Lake is located approximately 55 miles northeast of Placerville at an elevation of 7,415 feet in the beautiful Sierra Nevada's. Echo Lake is one of the most beautiful natural lakes found in the high Sierra's. Camping is not allowed around the lake. All boating is permitted in the lower lake, no water-skiing in the upper lake. Located above the Parker Dam on the Colorado River, Havasu is 45 miles long and ranges in width from one mile to three miles. Lake Isabella is fed by the "Mighty Kern River" and is a major irrigation water resource for the San Joaquin Valley farmer. The surface of the lake is 11,000 acres with a shoreline of 38 miles. Numerous well-maintained camping facilities are located around the lake suitable for tent of RV's. Fishing is allowed 24 hours and the summer months offer some "cool" catfishing. Jenkinson Lake is located approximately 60 miles east of Sacramento just off Highway 50. Jenkinson rests at an elevation of 3,478 feet in the beautiful El Dorado National Forest. The lake has a surface area of 640 acres with nine miles of evergreen covered shoreline. There are several camping facilities available suitable for tents, RV's, and group camping. Lake Kaweah is at an elevation of 694 feet in the foothills 17 miles east of Visalia. The construction of Terminus Dam was complete in 1962, forming Lake Kaweah. The lake has a surface area of 1,945 acres and 22 miles of oak and granite covered shoreline, during spring run-off Kaweah stores 143,000 acre feet of water. Kaweah is open 24 hours for boating and fishing, houseboats are available for overnight rental at Kaweah Marina. A well-maintained campground with showers is located at Horse Creek. Kaweah Lake has a very large population of decent size largemouth bass that offer great year round bass action; bluegill and catfish are also very popular and plentiful. This portion of the Kern River extends from the Lower Richbar picnic area to Hart Park. Although the Kern River is considered to be a navigable waterway, only a small portion can be safely used by rafters. This 20-mile stretch of the Kern offers a wide variety of fishing from nighttime catfishing to topwater smallmouth action. Lake Ming and Hart Park are just a few miles from Bakersfield along this lower portion and offer some fine picnicking, swimming, boating, and camping. This majestic, rugged, canyon portion of the Kern River extends from Lake Isabella to the Upper Richbar picnic area. This portion of the Kern River has very steep canyon walls and extremely torrent water flows during spring run-off. This beautiful 35 mile stretch of the Upper Kern River from Lake Isabella to Quaking Aspen offers a wide variety of year round recreation from rock climbing to rafting. With the cooler climate, great camping areas, and excellent fishing, the Upper Kern has become a very popular summer vacation get-away for many Southern Californian's. Loon Lake is located approximately 100 miles from Sacramento at an elevation of 6,500 feet in the Crystal Basin Recreation Area. Lake McClure is located approximately 50 miles east of Modesto at an elevation of 870 feet in the Mother Lode Country of the Sierra Foothills. Lake McClure has a surface area of 7,100 acres with 82 miles of oak and pine covered shoreline. There are numerous camping facilities available around the lake suitable for tents, RV's, and group camping; full service hook-ups available. Millerton Lake is located approximately 25 miles northeast of Fresno and has an abundance of modern picnic, camping, and marine facilities. Millerton has a surface area of 5,000 acres and more than 40 miles of shoreline. There are numerous camping facilities available accommodating tents, RV's (to 36 feet), and group camping. Lake Ming is located 10 miles northeast of Bakersfield, off of Hwy. 178 along Alfred Harrell Hwy. Lake Ming consists of 107 surface acres of water and is fed by the "Mighty Kern" River. Lake Ming is very well known for speedboat racing and water skiing. Fishing is allowed from specified areas along the shoreline, October through March, 8 a.m. to sundown. There are 50 well maintained campsites located near Lake Ming, along the Kern River, with hot showers and plenty of grass; no hook-ups. Boat rentals and concessions are not available, swimming, or tube fishing are not allowed. The local angler knows Lake Ming holds a large population of 5 lb.+ largemouth bass as well as numerous big bluegills. Modesto Reservoir is located approximately 20 miles northeast of Stockton at an elevation of 220 feet. The lake has a surface area of 2,700 acres with 31 miles of pasture shoreline. Camping is limited to one improved campground with 90 sites suitable for both tents and RV's, however, primitive camping is unlimited and overnight boat camping is permitted. New Hogan Lake is located approximately 40 miles east of Stockton at an elevation of 715 feet in the Sierra Nevada foothills. New Hogan has a surface area of 4,400 acres with 50 miles of oak covered shoreline. There are several campgrounds at the lake suitable for tents, RV's, group, and boat-in camping. New Melones Lake is located approximately 10 miles northeast of Sonora in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada's in the heart of the Mother Lode Gold Country at an elevation of 1,088 feet. Pinecrest Lake is located approximately 35 miles northeast of Sanora at an elevation of 5,600 feet in the beautiful Stanislaus National Forest. Pinto lake is located approximately 5 miles west of Watsonville and is under the jurisdiction of the City of Watsonville. The lake contains 92 surface acres of water. Camping is limited although RV sites with full hook-ups are available. Power boats are permitted with a restriction of 5 mph; rentals available. Salt Springs Reservoir is located approximately 55 miles east of Jackson just off Highway 88 at an elevation of 3,900 feet in the spectacular El Dorado National Forest. San Luis Reservoir is located approximately 16 miles west of Los Banos at an elevation of 544 feet in the eastern foothills of the Diablo Mountain Range. Lake Success rests at an elevation of 640 feet in the Southern Sierra foothills, 8 miles east of Porterville. Construction of the earth filled dam was completed in 1961. The lake has a surface area of 2,450 acres with 30 miles of shoreline and holds 82,000 acre-feet of water. Boating and fishing is allowed 24 hours and the summer night bass action is excellent. Boat rentals, bait, tackle, food, and fuel are available at Success Marina located on the east side of the lake. Overnight houseboat rentals are available also from the marina. A well maintained campground "with hot showers" rests on the east side of the lake. Turlock lake is located approximately 22 miles east of Modesto at an elevation of 250 feet. The has a surface area of 3,500 feet with 27 miles of shoreline. Union Valley Reservoir is located approximately 40 miles from Placerville at an elevation of 4,900 feet in the pristine El Dorado National Forest. Lake Woollomes is located 25 miles north of Bakersfield and 6 miles northwest of Delano at an elevation of 321 feet. This small 300-acre lake is owned by the Bureau of Reclamation and operated under a lease by the County of Kern. The primary purpose of Woollomes is that of an equalizing reservoir for irrigation purposes. Woollomes is open year round from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Boating is permitted; however no motor, gas, or electric are allowed. Rowboats are available for rental as well as sailboats, canoes, kayaks, and paddle boats. There are 9 acres of grassed picnic areas with BBQ grills, playground equipment, and swimming, no camping available. Despite the size of the lake the some very large fish are consistently caught with catfish and bass in the teens not unusual. Woodward Reservoir is located approximately 10 miles north of Oakdale at an elevation of 210 feet in rolling grassy Stanislaus County foothills. The lake has a shoreline of 23 miles and a surface area of 2,900 acres with many coves and inlets. There are 195 improved camping sites suitable for both tents and RV's as well as over 1,000 acres for primitive camping. All boating is permitted as well as jet skis, water skiing, and swimming. Yosemite Lake is located approximately 5 miles east of Merced in the rolling Sierra Foothills. The lake contains 387 surface acres of water and is under the jurisdiction of the county of Merced. No camping is available, however, shaded picnic areas for families and groups up to 200 people are available; group reservations are required. Lake Amador is located about an hour from Sacramento and Stockton and 2 1/2 hours from the Bay Area at an elevation of 485 feet. Amador is a small lake with only 425 acres and 14 miles of shoreline but offers everything any angler could want. Power boats are permitted however the lake is closed to water-skiing and jet-skis. The lake has full facilities including campgrounds, marina, boat rentals, store, etc. All facilities are open from early February through Thanksgiving. Lake Cachuma is located 115 miles northwest of Los Angeles in the scenic Santa Ynez Valley at an elevation of 800 feet above sea level. The lake holds an average 3,100 surface acre-feet of water. Cachuma is open year round 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. with 24 hour camping available at the lake. Boating is permitted, however no water-skiing or body contact with the water. Lake Casitas is located 78 miles northwest of Los Angeles and 12 miles north of Ventura off of Highway 150. Casitas has a surface area of 2,700 acres and rests at an elevation of 600 feet above sea level. Casitas is open year-round, sunrise to sunset for fishing, boating, and picnicking, however, no water-skiing, jet-skis, or swimming is allowed in the lake. Several campgrounds are located on the north end of the lake accommodating both tents and RV's with full hookups available. Clear Lake is the largest, natural freshwater lake in California, with 43,000 surface acres and 100 Miles of shoreline. There are more than 100 campgrounds and resorts on the lake that feature boat rentals, tackle shops and stores. In addition to the resorts and motels there is the Clear Lake State Park. The park has a boat ramp plus campsites and a visitor's center. One advantage of Clear Lake is its accessible boat ramps. There are 11 public ramps around the lake where fishermen can launch their boats free of charge. The wide variety of launch points is an advantage for the small boaters on windy days. Lopez Lake is located in the foothills above Arroyo Grande approximately 200 miles northwest of Los Angeles. Lopez contains 950 surface acres of water with 22 miles of oak covered shoreline. Lopez is operated by the General Services Department of San Luis Obispo County and is open year round. Lake Nacimiento rests in the west coastal foothills approximately 240 miles northwest of Los Angeles at an elevation of 800 feet. Nacimiento is a large lake with 167 miles of shoreline and 5,370 surface acres of water. Lake Nacimiento is open 24 hours a day, year-round and all night fishing is permitted. San Antonio Is located in the west coast foothills at an elevation of 900 feet, approximately 250 miles northwest of Los Angeles. The beautiful Santa Margarita Lake is situated in the west coastal foothills about 220 miles northwest of Los Angeles. This large 1,070 surface acre lake is open year-round, sunrise to sunset; closed Christmas. Two improved launch facilities are available and all boating is permitted for boats over 10 feet, however, no jet-skis, water-skiing, or windsurfing allowed. Camping along the lake is limited to one 65 unit campground (full and partial hookups), however, primitive boat-in sites and group camping is available. Lake Shasta is located at the Northern tip of the Sacramento valley at an elevation of 1,067 feet. This huge lake has over 370 miles of shoreline with a total of 30,000 surface acres of water, making this the largest manmade lake in California. Barrett Lake is located 42 miles east of San Diego and is under the jurisdiction of the City of San Diego Reservoirs and Recreation Program. The lake has a surface area of 861 acres with 12 miles of shoreline. Barrett is open for fishing on a limited basis (25 parties of 4 or few persons per day) normally from April through September/October on Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday for the first two months, then usually only Saturday and Sunday for the remainder of the season. Barrett is a catch and release lake with the use of barbless hooks and artificial lures only. The lake holds a good population of large bass as well as an abundance of bluegill and crappie. Big Bear is located 89 miles east of the Los Angeles area in the San Bernadino National Forest at an elevation of 6,740 feet. Big Bear holds 3,000 surface acres of water with 22 miles of timbered shoreline. The lake is open year round from sunrise to sunset with boat rentals available from several marinas. Any supplies you might need can be purchased from stores on the North or South shores. Water-skiing, jet-skis, and swimming are allowed. Several improved public campgrounds are located in the Big Bear area with Serrano providing RV hook-ups and showers. Lake Cahuilla is located approximately 10 miles south of Indio. Take I-10 to Washington, south 3 miles to Highway 111. East 2 miles to Jefferson. Go south 3 miles to Avenue 54 and travel east 1 mile to Madison. Turn south to Avenue 58 then west 1 mile to the lake. The lake holds good populations of rainbow trout, largemouth and striped bass, channel and flathead catfish, and bluegill. Cahuilla is open year round from sunrise to sunset. Trout are planted from November until the end of March with striped bass and catfish picking up the summer slack. No motorized boats are allowed. The shoreline is easily accessible for bank fishing. Lake Castaic is located along Interstate 5 approximately 70 miles south of Bakersfield and 35 miles north of Los Angeles at an elevation of 1,500 feet. Castaic Lake is part of the California State Water Project and is operated by the Los Angeles County Parks and Recreation Department. Lake Castaic has a surface area of 2,500 acres and the Afterbay Lagoon has 180 surface acres. The lake is open year round, except Christmas, from sunrise to sunset; day use only. At the lake camping is limited to one 50 unit facility for self-contained RV's and two group camping areas, however, Castaic Lake RV Park is just 2 miles from the lake and offers full hookups. Corona Lake is located just off Highway 15 south of Riverside. Boating is permitted with a 5 MPH speed restriction; unimproved launch facilities and boat rentals available. Corona is well known for it's excellent bass bite and is a favorite among float tubers. Catfish and trout are also a main attraction with heavy planting of quality fish. Night fishing is available. Lake Cuyamaca rests at an elevation of 4,650 feet in the Cuyamaca Rancho State Park. The lake contains more than 110 surface acres of water. There are several campgrounds located near the lake suitable for tents, RV's (full hookups available), group camping, as well as equestrian group facilities. There are two improved launch ramps with private power and row boats permitted (between 10 and 18 feet, 10 MPH speed restriction), no water-skiing or jet-skis allowed. Boat rentals are available at the rental docks. Cuyamaca is very well stocked seasonally with more than 44,000 pounds of trout making it a premier Southern California trout lake. Lake Dixon is operated by the city of Escondido and rests in the chaparral in avocado foothills. Dixon rests at an elevation of 1,050 feet and has a surface area of 70 acres with 2 miles of shoreline. Several campgrounds are located on the south end of the lake accommodating both tent sand RV's; some full hookups available. No private boats are allowed, however, rowboats with electric motors are available for rent at the rental dock. El Capitan is located 30 miles northeast of San Diego and is under the jurisdiction of the City of San Diego Lakes Recreation Program. The lake has a surface area of 1,574 acres with 20 miles of shoreline. El Capitan is normally open from mid-March to mid-October from sunrise to sunset on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday for fishing and boating. Boat rentals are available. Swimming is prohibited. Personal watercraft (jet-skis, waverunners, etc.) are permitted (restrictions apply) from mid-April to mid-October. Elsinore Lake is located approximately 70 miles north of San Diego at an elevation of 1,275 feet. Elsinore is the largest freshwater lake in Southern California with over 3,300 surface acres. Elsinore has been described as one of the most unruly and unpredictable bodies of water in California with windy conditions and fluctuating water levels. There are several camping facilities located at the lake suitable for both tents and RV's with numerous electrical hookups available. Glen Helen Regional Park Lake Map
Glen Helen Regional Lake is located approximately 15 minutes from downtown San Bernadino at an elevation of 1,000 feet. Camping is limited to 45 sites suitable for tents RV's and 2 group camping areas. No private boats are allowed, however, row and paddle boats are available for rent. Glen Helen is very popular in the summer months with swimming lagoons and waterslides located at the lake. Lake Hemet is located just outside of the town of Hemet at an elevation of 4,400 feet in the San Bernadino National Forest. Hemet contains 420 surface acres of water with 12 miles of shoreline. Boating is limited to fishing boats with a minimum 10 feet in length with a 10 MPH speed restriction (no canoes, kayaks, sailboats, or inflatables). Lake Henshaw is located 120 miles southeast of Los Angeles and 60 miles northeast of San Diego at an elevation of 2,740 feet. The lake contains 1,140 surface acres of water with more than 5 miles of shoreline. Henshaw is open year round from 6:30 a.m. to sundown. The lake has one improve launch ramp and all boating is permitted with a 10 MPH speed restriction and a 10 feet minimum length restriction. Boat rentals are available at the marina. No sailing, jet-skis, swimming, or tubing is allowed in the lake. A spacious camping area with modern facilities and full service hook-ups are available on a first come, first served basis. The lake rests at an elevation of 330 feet with a surface area of 1,234 acres and 27 miles of chaparral covered shoreline. No swimming is allowed. Irvine Lake is a private reservoir operated by the Andersons Company. The lake rests in the foothills seven miles east of the City of Orange. Irvine Lake is open for year round fishing from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily as well as from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. for Friday and Saturday night fishing from early June through the end of October. Improved launch facilities are available and boat rentals are available at the marina, however, no water-skiing or jet-skis allowed (5 MPH speed restriction). Jennings rests east of El Cajon at an elevation of 690 feet. Owned by the Helix Water District, which administer strict sanitation standards. The lake contains 180 surface acres of water with approximately 1/2 mile of shoreline. Jennings is open year-round for camping and Friday, Saturday and Sunday for day use (sunrise to sunset for day use). This lake is popular for huge channel and blue catfish and is also heavily stocked with rainbow trout. Trout season runs from October through May and catfish season runs June through September (open till midnight on Friday and Saturday during catfish season). No swimming or water skiing allowed. Handicapped fishing facilities are available. Jennings has three campgrounds located on the north side of the lake accommodating tents, group camping, and RV's; full hookups available. Located in a pristine park and protected from the Santa Ana winds, Laguna Niguel Lake has full service concessions, floating fishing dock, and rental boats with electric motors. No private boats are allowed. Laguna Niguel is a privately owned lake and does not require a state fishing license. The lake is stocked with over 70,000 pounds of fish each year making it one of the heaviest stocked lakes, per acre, anywhere in Orange County. Utah raised rainbow trout are the main attraction in the winter. Catfish are also abundant and night fishing is allowed 7 days a week, year round. Little Rock rests in the Angeles Forest at an elevation of 3,405 feet approximately 38 miles east if Interstate 5 from Highway 14. This 150 surface acre lake is excellent fishing for rainbow and brown trout and is heavily stocked. Only fishing boats are permitted with a five-mile per hour restriction; unimproved launch facilities available. Lake Miramar is located 18 miles north of San Diego and is under the jurisdiction of the City of San Diego Reservoirs and Recreation Program. Miramar rests at an elevation of 715 feet in the rolling hills below Poway and has a surface area of 162 acres with 4 miles of shoreline. The lake is normally open from sunrise to sunset from early November through end of September on Saturday, Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday for boating and fishing. Oso Reservoir is one of the Southland’s premier bass fishing lakes. Oso rests in the foothills of the Santa Ana Mountains approximately 30 miles southeast of Santa Ana. This 175-acre lake is managed as a catch and release fishery operated by Oso Sportsman’s Organization, and managed by Bob Heerdt. Oso consistently produces largemouth bass in the 10 plus range. Lake Perris is located 70 miles east of Los Angeles and 80 miles north of San Diego and is the last lake in the California State Water Project chain. Perris is open year round, 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. for day use; 24 hours for campers; 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. in the summer. Boat rentals are available at the marina. Swimming, water-skiing, tubing, and jet skis are permitted. Lake Piru is located 53 miles northwest of Los Angeles in the Los Padres National Forest at an elevation of 1,055 feet above sea level. Piru is open from sunrise to sunset, year round, except Christmas. Boat rentals are available at the marina as well as concessions, licenses, tackle, and fuel. Well maintained campgrounds with showers are located near the lake entrance suitable for tents, RV's or group camping with full hookups available; No reservations, first come first served basis. All boating is permitted as well as water-skiing with a 35 MPH speed restriction (boats must be at least 12 ft. long). Jet-skis are not permitted. Lake Poway is located north of San Diego off of Freeway 15. The lake contains 60 surface acres of water. There are primitive walk-in campsites available but no improved facilities, however, fresh water is available. No private boats are allowed, however, non-powered or electric motored boats are available for rent. Swimming or body contact with the water is not permitted. Poway is heavily stocked in the winter months with quality rainbow trout. Poway holds a good population of bass, catfish, and bluegill, as an added plus the lake is open for night fishing. Puddingstone rests at an elevation of 940 feet approximately 30 miles from Los Angeles. Puddingstone Dam was built in 1928 as a flood control reservoir for the Los Angeles Basin, holding about 253 surface acres of water. The lake is open year round, seven days a week, sunrise to 10 p.m. in the summer months, sunrise to 7 p.m. in the winter. Night fishing is permitted from the shore. Pyramid Lake is located in the San Gabriel Mountains along Interstate 5 approximately 60 miles north of Los Angeles and 50 miles south of Bakersfield. The lake has a surface area of 1,360 acres with 21 miles of rugged shoreline, most of which is accessible only by boat. Pyramid is open year round, except Christmas, New Years Day, and Thanksgiving, from 7 a.m. to sunset. Day use only. Camping is available six miles outside the lake with 93 sites suitable for tent, RV's and group camping on a first come first served basis. All boating is permitted with a 35 MPH speed restriction. Boat rentals as well as food and fuel are available at Pyramid Marina. The lake is fed primarily by the California Aqueduct and is a major drinking water resource for the Los Angeles area. As for the angler, Pyramid harbors a wide variety of fish species; most popular are the huge 30+ striped bass and the abundant chunky smallmouth bass. The Salton Sea is located approximately 25 miles south of El Centro at an elevation of 225 feet below sea level surrounded by open desert. Salton Sea is one of the largest inland bodies of salt water with a surface area of more than 300 square miles. Numerous private and public campgrounds are located around the lake accommodating tents, RV's, and group camping. All boating is permitted as well as jet-skis and water-skiing and is very popular in the spring and fall months where temperatures are not suitable at other lakes. There are several improved launch facilities as well as bait, tackle, camping supplies, and groceries available. Cucamonga-Guasti, Yucaipa, Fairmont, and Prado Parks are home to several lakes that make up part of the San Bernadino Regional Lakes. The lakes are a popular getaway spot for a good days fishing. All lakes are well stocked with trout and catfish with numerous size and quality limits produced daily. Yucaipa and Prado have camping facilities accommodating both tent and RV's. Prado and Fairmont have unimproved launch facilities, however, boating is limited to non-powered boats. Pedal boats are available for rent at Yucaipa and Cucamonga-Guasti. Reflection Lake is located approximately 15 miles north of Hemet at an elevation of 1,600 feet. Reflection is a privately owned facility that caters specifically to camping and fishing. No state fishing license required here. There are numerous campgrounds located at the lake accommodating both tents and RV's with over 100 sites with full hook-ups available. Boating is permitted but limited to row, canoe, and electrical powered craft; rowboats available for rent. There is a playground and recreation area located at the lake, however, swimming is not permitted. San Vicente is located in Lakeside approximately 25 miles northeast of San Diego at an elevation of 659 feet and is under the jurisdiction of the City of San Diego Reservoirs and Recreation Program. San Vicente has a surface area of 1,069 acres with 14 miles of shoreline. The lake is open Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday year round. San Vicente's schedule from mid-October to mid-May is on Thursday and Friday the lake is open for both fishing and water contact (water-skiing, wakeboarding, tubing, etc.). On Saturday and Sunday the lake is open for fishing and boating only. From mid-May to mid-October, the lake is open on Wednesday for fishing and boating only, and Thursday for fishing and water contact, and on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday for water contact only. Swimming is not allowed. Florida bass, catfish, crappie, and bluegill are abundant in the lake. Trout are planted from November to January. San Vicente holds the state record blue catfish, 101 pounds. Launch facilities are available as well as boat rentals. No camping at the lake but camping is available to the north of the lake at Dos Picos County Park as well as Lake Jennings (858) 565-3600. Santa Ana River Lakes are private owned facilities geared for the fisherman. Heavily stocked with rainbow trout and catfish, this lake is often very rewarding for the angler for both size and quantity. Night fishing available. Rental boats are available and private boats are allowed with unimproved launching facilities. No camping facilities available. No swimming or body contact with the water. Santee lakes are located 17 miles east of San Diego at an elevation of 369 feet. There are four lakes ranging in size from 7-11 surface acres. Camping facilities are available for both tent and RV's; some with full hookups. The campgrounds also have laundry, groceries, and a pool. Private boats are not permitted but non-powered rentals are available. Picnic facilities, playgrounds, volleyball courts and horseshoe pits are available at the lake. Santee is a very popular spot for the Southern California angler offering heavily planted trout in the winter to spring and huge channel catfish as well as a good population of bass and bluegill. Lake Silverwood is located 30 miles north of San Bernadino on the north side of the San Bernadino Mountains at an elevation of 3,378 feet above sea level. Silverwood contains 1,000 surface acres of water with 13 miles of shoreline. Silverwood is open year round; April 1st through September 30th - 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.; October 1st through March 31st - 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Boat rentals are available at the marina. Swimming, water-skiing and jet-skis are allowed in designated areas of the lake. Silverwood has 136 individual campsites, no hook-ups, suitable for both tent and RV's, showers are available, reservations recommended. The nearest grocery store is located approximately 5 miles from the lake; however, concessions are available at the boat ramp and swimming areas. Lake Skinner is located 70 miles northeast of San Diego at an elevation of 1,500 feet. Skinner contains 1,200 surface acres of water with 15 miles of shoreline. Skinner is open year round from 6 a.m. to sunset. Power boats are permitted with a minimum of 10 feet long; speed limit of 10 MPH strictly enforced. Swimming, tubing, or water-skiing is not allowed in the lake. Boat rentals are available from the marina for both fishing and pontoon boats. There are 260 campsites some with full hook-ups available accommodating both tent and RV's; reservations welcome. Skinner has a complete campground store that sells groceries, fuel, bait and tackle, drinks, and camping supplies. Lake Sutherland is located 45 miles northeast of San Diego, between Ramona and Julian and is under the jurisdiction of the City of San Diego Reservoirs and Recreation Program. The lake rests at an elevation of 2.075 feet and has a surface area of 557 acres and 11 miles of oak covered shoreline. The lake is normally open from early March through mid-October on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday; sunrise to sunset. No camping at the lake. The nearest camping facilities are located near Julian. No swimming or water contact is allowed. Power and rowboats are permitted, with rentals available at the lake. Florida bass and catfish are very popular at Sutherland but the lake also holds a good population of crappie and bluegill. Vail Lake is located approximately 75 miles north of San Diego at an elevation of 1,100 feet. Vail Lake is open year-round sunrise to sunset. Camping is available suitable for tents, trailers, or RV's with full service hookups. Private boats are permitted with a 10 mph speed limitation and water-skiing or swimming is not allowed. Concessions, bait, and tackle are available as well as boat rentals at the marina. Vail Lake is heavily stocked and is well noted by local fishermen as one of the Southland's premier trout and catfish lake. Vail also holds a good population of bass, crappie, and bluegill. Lake Wohlford is located 41 miles from San Diego at an elevation of 1500 feet. Wohlford is more than 100 years old and is one of the oldest reservoirs in Southern California containing 146 surface acres of water. Lake Wohlford is open sunrise to sunset, seven days a week. The lake has one improved launch ramp. Boating is restricted to a 5 MPH speed limit and a 20 feet maximum vessel length (no sailboats allowed). Boat rentals are available at the ramp area. No swimming or tubing allowed at the lake. Wohlford has two campgrounds near the lake, one on the north and south shore, with full hook-ups available. Both Wohlford Resort and Oakdale have stores with food, drinks, fuel, bait and tackle, and miscellaneous camping supplies. Wohlford has been a fine fishing lake for many years.
