UST Program - Leak Prevention - Frequently Asked Question #11

Question: How can the required UST inspector certification be renewed?

Answer: An International Code Council (ICC) California UST Inspector certificate is valid for 24 months from the date it is issued. Inspectors have two options for renewing their certificate: examination or continuing education.

  1. To renew by examination, inspectors must take and pass the ICC California UST Inspector exam as they did to receive their initial certification.
  2. To renew through continuing education, inspectors must follow the guidelines as outlined in, Implementation of Continuing Education Contact Hours for Renewal of California UST Inspector ICC Certification.
