General Permitting
Often, certain classes of wastewater discharges are identified, and where similar types of discharges occur from similar types of operations, general permits are developed to streamline the permitting process to cover those discharges. The General Permitting unit issues general NPDES permits and enrolls applicable discharges under the general permits for the following categories:
- Construction and Project Dewatering
- Hydrostatic Test Water
- Non-Process Wastewater
- Petroleum Fuel Cleanup
- Groundwater Cleanup of Volatile Organic Compounds
- Groundwater Cleanup and Water Supply Operations–Upper San Gabriel River Basin
- Residual Fireworks Pollutants
To apply for coverage under the General NPDES Permit, the following forms and information must be submitted:
- Notice of Intent (NOI) Form
- Monitoring results for list of pollutants that are required to be monitored (Supplemental Requirements)
- A USGS Topo map showing the location of the facility and project site
- A flow schematic diagram of treatment system, if applicable
To modify/terminate the permit coverage
- NPDES Permit Transfer Request Form
- Notice of Termination (There is no form for a termination request; the discharger must request termination in writing, including the reason for termination)
