Project Name:

Beach Boulevard Revetment Replenishment
City/County:

Pacifica, San Mateo County
Comment Period:

11/04/2026 - 11/24/2026
Project Description:

In June 2026, the City of Pacifica undertook emergency actions in response to structural distress and instability at the Pacifica Municipal Pier. As part of the emergency response, approximately 300 existing rocks (approximately 900 to 1,000 cubic yards) were relocated from throughout the borrow area and placed around the base of the pier abutment to support stabilization efforts. The relocation of the rock reduced the existing armoring along the affected portion of the Beach Boulevard seawall, increasing the potential for wave overtopping, erosion, and flooding. See image below, taken prior to rock relocation. The City now proposes to import approximately 300 new boulders and place them within the same general beach area from which the original rock was taken. The replacement rock would restore the affected portion of the revetment and address the increased risk of wave overtopping, erosion, and flooding resulting from relocation of the rock.
