Emergency Activities to Redirect Avulsed Channel Flow


The San Francisco Regional Water Quality Control Board is currently reviewing an application for the following project for water quality certification under Section 401 of the Clean Water Act. Project Description:

Olema Creek is a braided channel with a history of recent avulsions, moving from downstream to upstream direction. In February 2025 Olema Creek avulsed from its historical main channel thread to make a new main channel running through the Campground. The Owner has been coordinating with multiple agencies to develop a plan to redirect the channel flow into its historical main channel area within the riparian corridor on NPS lands.
