Project Name:

Johnston Ranch Habitat Enhancement and Agricultural Water Supply Improvement Project
City/County:

Unincorporated, San Mateo County
Comment Period:

4/2/2026 - 04/22/2026
Project Description:

The San Mateo Resource Conservation District (RCD) is partnering with the MROSD and POST on the Johnston Ranch Habitat Enhancement and Agricultural Water Supply Improvement Project (project). The project will improve habitat quality and quantity in an existing degraded pond, create a new agricultural water reservoir, create stream and riparian habitat along a restored historic channel that will act as the new primary overflow for the enhanced pond, and address chronic erosion occurring along a man-made pond overflow channel. Moreover, the project will result in improved dry season instream flows, on nearby Arroyo Leon, by significantly reducing diversion during the forbearance season.
