Keller Beach Improvement Project
The San Francisco Regional Water Quality Control Board is currently reviewing an application for the following project for water quality certification under Section 401 of the Clean Water Act. | Project Description: |
The primary objectives of the Keller Beach Park Improvement Project seek to address four key issues identified in the 2019 Miller / Knox Land Use Plan Amendment. Taken together, these objectives advance EBRPD’s dual mission of resource conservation and public access by improving stormwater quality discharged to San Francisco Bay (SF Bay), enhancing native habitats, and ensuring that all members of the public—including those with mobility limitations—can equitably enjoy one of the eastern Bay shoreline’s most valued recreational assets. With approximately 75,000 annual visitors, Keller Beach Park is both a critical public access point to the San Francisco Bay and a gateway to the broader Miller/Knox Regional Shoreline trail system; this project will safeguard and strengthen that role for generations to come. Overall, the goals and objectives of this project align with the vision of the Enhanced San Francisco Bay Area Water Trail Plan (California State Coastal Conservancy 2011) by promoting “safe and responsible use of the Bay, while protecting and increasing appreciation of its environmental resources through education and coordinated, strategic access to the Bay. |
