The San Francisco Regional Water Quality Control Board is currently reviewing an application for the following project for water quality certification under Section 401 of the Clean Water Act. | Project Description: |
The purpose of the Proposed Project is to improve public safety by replacing the existing bridge that is no longer structurally sound. The existing steel railroad cars which make up the bridge are rusting and have noted structural section loss. Additionally, the grouted riprap on the north bank is undermined along its full length making it structurally unsound. The new bridge and associated roadways will be raised 4 ft. to accommodate the 100-year flows, which are a safety concern for flooding of local residences and roadways during large winter storm events. |
