Project Name:

Richmond Ranch Reserve Pond 1 Desedimentation and Restoration Project
City/County:

San Jose, Santa Clara County
Comment Period:

7/2/2024 - 7/22/2024
Project Description:

The pond has accumulated sediment, precluding successful CRLF breeding and decreasing water storage capacity for cattle grazing. Desedimentation of the pond is needed to restore suitable breeding habitat for CRLF and other native amphibians. It will also have the added benefit of an improved water source for cattle grazing, which is used as a management tool to maintain high-quality habitat for serpentine endemic plants and wildlife, including Bay checkerspot butterfly (Federally Threatened), Santa Clara Valley dudleya (Federally Endangered), and other species.
