| Project Description: |
The purpose of the Project is to replace the degraded platform that supports crucial aviationrelated instruments to ensure that FAA technicians can safely access and service the instruments for a period of 20 years. Maintaining the instruments in working order is a critical need for safe air traffic control on Runway 19L at SFO. The Project is water-dependent because the wind shear metrics must be measured where aircraft approach Runway 19L over San Francisco Bay. Thus, the replacement of this platform is Deemed Essential by the FAA’s Engineering Services Manager. |
