Basin Planning and TMDLs

NEW – March 24, 2026: A Tentative Resolution and supporting draft Staff Report describing an Advanced Restoration Plan to address bacteria impairment at six San Mateo County Beaches – Oyster Point Beach, Coyote Point Beach, Kiteboard Beach, Gull Park Beach, Erckenbrack Park Beach, and Marlin Park Beach are available for public review. Send written comments to Selina Louie@waterboards.ca.gov no later than 5:00 p.m. on April 24, 2026. The Water Board will consider the Tentative Resolution and the Staff Report in a hearing to be held on June 10, 2026.

Public Review Opportunity and Regional Water Board Hearing of the Proposed Basin Plan Amendment to Add Tribal Tradition and Culture (CUL), Tribal Subsistence Fishing (T-SUB), and Subsistence Fishing (SUB) Beneficial Use Definitions 

The San Francisco Bay Water Board will hold a public hearing on April 8, 2026, at 9:00 am to consider adoption of the proposed Basin Plan Amendment. The 45-day public comment period starts on January 20, 2026. Submit written comments by 5:00 pm on March 6, 2026. The Public Notice has details on submitting comments and attending the hearing in person or remotely.

Waste Discharge Requirements

A Tentative Order (TO) issuing Waste Discharge Requirements (Order) to the Santa Clara Valley Water District Coyote Creek Flood Protection Project will be considered by the San Francisco Bay Regional Water Quality Control Board at its June 10, 2026, meeting. The draft Order would authorize the placement of fill in waters of the state for the construction of traditional floodwalls, passive barriers, berms, and levees spanning 17,000 discontinuous linear feet (LF), and improvements to the City’s municipal storm sewer system by the Santa Clara Valley Water District. Written comments on the Tentative Order or objections to this action must be submitted no later than May 16, 2026, by 5:00 p.m.
