Shasta River Watershed Curtailment Orders and Addendums for 2024 Scott-Shasta Emergency Regulations
Shasta River Watershed Curtailment Status:
Effective July 3, 2023 conditional curtailments are reinstated for curtailed water rights in the Shasta River watershed. As ordered in Addendum 1 to Order 2024-0006-DWR, water rights listed in Attachment A with a priority date junior to 1958 are reinstated as conditionally curtailed and may currently divert when specific conditions in the addendum are met.
Water rights with priority dates of, or between, November 25, 1912, and December 31, 1957, remain conditionally curtailed (i.e., diverters must cease diversions in order of priority, if necessary, to meet and sustain the minimum flow requirement of 50 cubic feet per second at the Yreka United States Geological Survey gage.)
The Order establishes conditional curtailments that provide flexibility for diverters to continue diversions with assisted coordination with the Scott Valley and Shasta Valley Watermaster or the State Water Board. Diverters must cease diversions, in order of priority, when streamflow at the Shasta River at the USGS Yreka gage is at, or below, the 2024 Emergency Regulation’s flow requirement (50 cubic feet per second from May 1-September 15, 2024).
