Proposed Rescission of Cleanup and Abatement Order, Tahoe Donner Association Equestrian Center, Truckee, Nevada County

Overview

On April 25, 2007, the Lahontan Regional Water Quality Control Board (Water Board) issued Cleanup and Abatement Order No. R6T-2007-0015 to Tahoe Donner Association to address ongoing discharges of horse manure and sediment to surface waters and 100-year floodplain habitat. Such discharges violated waste discharge prohibitions contained in the Water Board's Water Quality Control Plan for the Lahontan Region. The Order required Tahoe Donner Association to cease the discharges and mitigate the environmental impacts. Tahoe Donner Association has complied with the Order by relocating horse corrals out of floodplain areas and historical wetland habitat, improving manure management practices, and restoring the impacted floodplain and historical wetland habitat. The restored floodplain and wetland habitat is now protected by fencing. Therefore, Water Board staff recommends rescinding Cleanup and Abatement Order No. R6T-2007-0015.
