CEC Datasets and Interactive Visualizations

CEC Program Data Access and Management

The Constituents of Emerging Concern (CEC) Program organizes and shares data through a centralized system built on open data principles. Our datasets come from a wide range of sources, including statewide monitoring programs, water quality databases, scientific studies, specialized toxicology tools, and input from communities and Tribal partners. Current data are available through program-specific tools such as interactive Tableau dashboards and GIS maps (see below). To access full datasets with complete metadata or for questions about data access, please contact DWQ-emergingcontaminants@waterboards.ca.gov.

Aquatic Ecosystems CECs Dataset

  1. Compiled data sourced from the CEDEN, WQP, EDT, CIWQS, and GeoTracker databases.
  2. Assembled as part of the Aquatic Science Center Data Synthesis Project.
  3. Refined and trimmed for the SCCWRP Aquatic Ecosystems Expert Panel. Further details on the process of curating the dataset are available in the Final California Aquatic Ecosystems CEC Expert Panel Report.

Aquatic Ecosystems Interactive Tableau

The Tableau Interactive Visualization is a draft tool to enable intuitive exploration of the CEC dataset by stakeholders and the public. Data can be filtered by detect/non-detect, Site Type, Sample Matrix, Class, and Analyte, and can be explored spatially and temporally.

Tire and Road Wear Particles (TRWPs) — 6PPD and 6PPD-quinone

The 6PPDq Areas of Concern Preliminary Criteria Map is a collection of publicly available datasets relevant to fate and transport of 6PPD and 6PPD-quinone. Locations where high-traffic roadways and vulnerable waterways intersect may indicate areas of future interest for 6PPD/6PPDq monitoring and management.
