The State Water Resources Control Board has held and will hold drought-related public workshops to discuss additional actions the Board can take in response to the drought, including increasing water conservation, reuse and recycling, as well as drought-related temporary emergency actions. These are informational workshops only. No State Water Board action will be taken.

June 24, 2015 Workshop: Summer and Fall Drought-Related State Water Project and Central Valley Project Operations in the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta Watershed

The State Water Board held a public workshop to receive public input on actions to preserve cold water for salmonid fisheries in the Sacramento River below Shasta Dam during the drought.


May 20, 2015 Workshop: SWP and CVP Temporary Urgency Change Petition, Emergency Drought Barrier, and Water Right Curtailments

The State Water Board held a workshop to receive public input on the Temporary Urgency Change Petitions filed by the Department of Water Resources and U.S. Bureau of Reclamation and the Executive Director's Amended Order regarding the Petitions; the proposed Emergency Drought Barrier at West False River in the west-central Delta; and water right curtailments imposed by the State Water Board on post-1914 appropriative water rights in the Sacramento, San Joaquin and Bay-Delta watersheds.

February 18, 2015 Workshop: State Water Project and Central Valley Project Temporary Urgency Change Petition

The State Water Board held a workshop to receive public input on a Temporary Urgency Change Petition (TUCP) filed by the Department of Water Resources (DWR) and U.S. Bureau of Reclamation (Reclamation), the Executive Director's Order regarding the TUCP, and a Drought Contingency Plan that DWR and Reclamation have prepared as required under State Water Board Order WR2014-0029.

September 24, 2014 Workshop: Central and Southern Delta Water Availability and Use

The State Water Board held a public workshop to receive comments and discuss the most effective process available to the State Water Board to determine the facts pertaining to water availability and water diversion and use within the central and southern Sacramento - San Joaquin Delta.

June 17, 2014 Update on Urban Water Supplier Conservation Actions

The State Water Board’s June 17, 2014 meeting included an information item to follow up on the Board’s May 23, 2014 survey to urban water suppliers on water conservation actions being taken in response to the drought. The purpose of the information item was for the Board to hear the results of the survey, and to receive input from water agencies and other stakeholders on the effectiveness of current actions and possible next steps.
