Santa Ynez River basin TMDL addressing nutrient pollution
Information
Problem Statement - Surface waters in the Santa Ynez River basin are impaired due to one or more of the following conditions: excessive concentrations of nitrogen compounds such as nitrate, total nitrogen, and un-ionized ammonia, and low dissolved oxygen. These surface waters do not meet the Basin Plan water quality objectives and therefore municipal and domestic water supply, groundwater recharge, and aquatic habitat beneficial uses are not protected.
- Preliminary map of the project area
- Designated beneficial uses of surface waterbodies in the river basin (municipal supply, groundwater recharge, cold freshwater habitat, and agricultural supply).
