Overfill Prevention Equipment

The State Water Board Evaluation staff utilizes the UST Facility/Tank Data Download to assess whether the CUPA is accepting CERS submittals with incorrectly reported overfill protection methods. The CUPA should verify the following when reviewing over the Overfill Protection Section under Tank Construction on the Tank Information page:

  • The correct overfill protection is being marked based on the UST installation date and construction
  • The overfill protection method cited in CERS matches the method used on the Overfill Prevention Equipment Inspection Report Form

If the answer to both is yes, the CUPA must either require the installation of overfill prevention equipment or secondary containment construction for the single-walled vent and tank riser.
